JUNE 2010 MEETING

This is to remind you that the monthly meeting of MUSADA will be taking place this sunday – June 6th at

Ms Rahmatu’s residence –  11700 Old Columbia Pike Apt 310, Silver Spring, Md 20904. Time usually is 6:00p.m. Please be on time.

  

It has been decided that members should use this year to bring their account up to date and so no new project is being implemented. Ideas as to what we should do in addition to bringing our accounts up to date are expected from members.

 

When coming to the meeting do not forget to bring drinks and or chewables as usual. If you do not have at this time still come. You are welcomed. We are more interested in you than in what you bring.

There are some social issues we are to address at this meeting. Please come on time so that we may have your participation.

FEBRUARY MEETING POSTPONED TO FEBRUARY 14TH, 2010

The meeting scheduled to take place on Sunday February 7th has been postponed to Sunday February 14th 2010 at the same venue – 11700 Old Columbia Pike Apt 310, Silver Spring, Md 20904.

WAKE KEEPING AND BABY SHOWERS FOR JANUARY 15TH AND 16TH

Hi Musada,

This weekend is going to be a week of joyful and sadful celebration.

At the meeting of January 3rd 2010 at Mr Yomba Henry’s place, it was announced that there will be baby showers on Friday January 15th and Saturday January 16th.

On Saturday the wake keeping for the father of AGATHA HAPPI will be taking place at 13152 TARA LN, SILVER SPRING, MD 20904. The father will be buried on this day in Cameroon.

 

The Friday BABY SHOWER for the Yomba family will be taking place on Friday 01/15/2010 at 11613 Clocktower Ln, Laurel, Md 20708.

The Saturday BABY SHOWER for the NJEKAM FAMILY will be taking place at Ms Emmerencia Bodog’s residence in 2204 Victor Ct, Silver Spring, Md 20906 – For direction if lost contact 202 437 2131

 

There will two occasions on Saturday. The baby shower and the wake keeping. Please endeavour to show up in both places.

Contribution for the wake keeping has been place at $25.00 each to be paid to MUSADA. The money will be delivered in block to Ms Agatha Happi.

NOVEMBER 2009 MEETING

Hi Everyone,

This is a reminder that the next meeting will be taking place on the First Sunday of the month –  November 1st 2009 at 6908 SCOTCH DR, LAUREL, MD 20707.

The meeting of October 2009 was well attended inspite of the confusion caused by the President in describing the location. We wish to thank the Fonyas for their hospitality and willingness to host when others could not. There was more than enough to drink and eat.

The End of year party will be taking place on DECEMBER 5TH 2009, at the

Members are requested to come to the November Meeting with their End of year Party contributions. We would appreciate a heavy turnover in order to discuss the details of the party. Since we have hired a hall, we would like to make this occasion a fund raising occasion and so we are open to various opinions. Remember it is the Party to wear our uniform for the first time.

MEETING OF OCTOBER 2009

The meeting of September 2009 that was held at Mr and Mrs Tebunde was very successful. We thank them for being such gracious host and hostess.

This month’s meeting is to be held at the Fonya’s Residence in 13300 Edinburgh Lane, Laurel, Md 20708. For directions call 301 483 8163. The Date of the Meeting is First Sunday of the Month, October 4th 2009 and time to start deliberations 6:00p.m.

At the last Meeting, Uniforms were distributed and some were carried over. If you have not yet received your uniforms, please come to the meeting and collect them.

Committees that were set up for the End of Year are required to come with reports on progress of arrangements.

September 2009 Meeting

I will like to thank Mr and Mrs Nkeng for hosting the meeting of August 2009.  The meeting was well attended and as usual we had discussions on the end of year Party, uniform opening etc.

Microsoft Fixes 19 Windows Security Flaws

Microsoft today issued a raft of software updates to plug at least 19 security holes in its various Windows operating systems and other software, 15 of which earned the company’s most dire “critical” rating.

This month’s batch of patches fix some fairly dangerous flaws.. Redmond labels a security flaw “critical” if attackers could use it to seize control over a vulnerable system without any help from the victim. What’s more, a dozen of the flaws earned the highest rating on Microsoft’s “exploitability index,” which is the software maker’s best estimation of the likelihood that criminals will soon develop reliable ways to exploit them to break into Windows-based machines.

Patches are available for Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008. Microsoft said none of the vulnerabilities affect Windows 7, its newest operating system. Windows users can download the updates from Windows Update or via Automatic Updates

Many of the flaws fixed this month stem from faulty ActiveX controls, tiny programs built to work with Internet Explorer that have full access to the Windows operating system. As a result, flaws in ActiveX controls can give hackers extremely powerful tools with which to take over vulnerable systems. In my opinion, ActiveX flaws are among the prime reasons to browse the Web with an alternative browser, such as Firefox or Opera. Indeed, according to Microsoft, all of these ActiveX vulnerabilities can be exploited merely by convincing an Internet Explorer user to visit a hacked or malicious Web site.

At least five of the vulnerabilities are ActiveX flaws associated with a software development “template” or code library that Microsoft makes available to other software makers and uses throughout Windows. Last month, Microsoft issued an emergency update to fix this flawed template, known as an “active template library” or ATL, and the company says attackers are currently exploiting at least one of those ATL flaws.

Today’s release also fixes four ActiveX flaws that shipped with most supported versions of Microsoft Office, including Office 2000 Web Components, Office XP, and Office 2003. Microsoft warns that at least one of these Office flaws is actively being exploited online.

Another notable update shipped this month fixes a pair of critical flaws in the way Windows processes .AVI files, meaning attackers could use this vulnerability to hijack Windows computers just by getting someone to open a booby-trapped video file.

MEETING OF AUGUST 2009

The August meeting (August 2nd 2009) will be taking place at Mr. and Mrs. Michael Nkeng’s residence at 7705 Sean Terrace, Lanham, Maryland.

There will be many issues to be discussed at this meeting. We are expecting the progress report on the Projects in Muyuka. We should be thinking and planning the end of year party if any.

Our Uniform, when will it be opened and what format will it take?

Condolences, Christenning etc are other issues that will come up.

Please endeavour to be there on time. This will be a cookout and so members are expected to come with drinks and some chewables.

I wish to make a correction in the communication I made about the Marriage of Ms Folefa Rosemary. Please the date for the wedding is July 18th 2009. Musada is invided as a group and individually.
